For Luna knows all…
The Ocúrey Chronicles follows life’s dilemmas presented to an elven girl, Guenievere Galánelun, in a far off realm called Ocúrey. Switching between her perspective and the eyes of her concerned mother and others throughout the story, this High Fantasy story is filled with modern literary elements like the protagonist’s mind unveiled, internal conflict, and societal issues, like bullying and equal rights, in a world not too dissimilar to our own but bursting with magic. Told in the close third person in past tense, my hope is that Guenievere’s story will grab the attention of many young readers and thoroughly entertain you.
Guenievere gently placed her hand under Nailla’s chin to direct her gaze up to look into her eyes. “I will only be gone eighteen moons. I’ll be home before you know it.”
“You promise? By the stars?” Nailla’s eyes glittered with hopeful expectation.
She smiled. “I promise by the stars and by Luna’s grace that I will write to you and remember you always,” Guenievere hummed as she pulled her into a hug.

Days of the Moon
Guenievere Galánelun is in trouble, and the consequences for her actions will be held accountable. Riots fill the streets of Luntera at her arrival home from her mission in the Shadow Swamps, because she, a half-elf, survived the death of her fellow princess and druidic partner. After the death of her druidic partner in a mission for the Council of the Moon, Guenievere is interrogated by a fair elven king as he tries to get to the bottom of the death. As the interrogation takes place, Guenievere’s mind is sucked back into the past. In a series of flashbacks, she retells her story from the beginning, reflecting on her history with her partner and the abuses experienced at her hands, the lessons she learned on her tutelage trip from friends and tutors alike, and the mysteries uncovered about her teacher. Perspectives are occasionally flipped between her own perspective and that of her mother, a queen of Luntera, as truths are shared and trust gained between Guenievere and her interviewer. But the shame of her failure seems to mock her at every turn, as regret of the past eats away at her soul.
“Long ago, when the gods were still creating Ocúrey and all that lives within the realm, Solaro and Silótu saw fit to provide the inhabitants of this plane with a wide plethora of herbs, both for healing and for culinary purposes. It is believed by many that this creation of verdant life occurred during the time of the summer solstice, the final day of herbal genesis ending on Sólace av ib Solá. Each summer, when Solaro has gone to bed, we respect his contribution to the time of procreation by offering up one of these creations to the fire so that he might receive the prayers of our hearts.”
